I know a time that is coming When the world does not turn And the sun does not burn I curse that terrible humming That coaxes all life From the ocean slime I get this terrible feeling That it might be too late To start changing our fate Despite this entropic bias I sometimes find myself Looking forward now I think it's entropy, baby! That covers the past With a nuclear blast And now it seems our time is fleeting Like holy shit Has it been so long? How in the hell is she 21? Time is fucking me up And I've so much left unsaid And all night long you refused to come back to bed Man I hope you don't puke yourself dead

You think you own whatever land you land on The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim But I know every rock and tree and creature Has a life, has a spirit, has a name You think the only people who are people Are the people who look and think like you But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains Can you paint with all the colors of the wind Can you paint with all the colors of the wind Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth Come roll in all the riches all around you And for once, never wonder what they're worth The rainstorm and the river are my brothers The heron and the otter are my friends And we are all connected to each other In a circle, in a hoop that never ends How high will the sycamore grow If you cut it down, then you'll never know And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon For whether we are white or copper skinned We need to sing with all the voices of the mountains We need to paint with all the colors of the wind You can own the Earth and still All you'll own is Earth until You can paint with all the colors of the wind

School's out for the whole darn summer And you knew how to transform the downtime to somethin funner So you dug it up, your card, been a hard minute since you took it on the road And a great big bag for the load Of loot you find They don't make bags big enough Gettin the mom or dad to take you for a ride To the library, hit em up Shelves on shelves of ships and spells Pigs and elves, big castles of brick, nonfiction that miraculously actually tells You lessons you want to learn Like how plants grow or how to churn Butter, or make your friend's heart flutter Get a coin to disappear, reappear behind the ear Whatever you want, it's there And if it's not, order from another library I very much like to share Find what you want, come to the front I'll give a scan, tell you the plan This is how long you can have it and after You'll rack up some back debt per day that it's late so handle Your time well, Don't get a fine, we'll Send you a heads up when we need to get stuff Returned, durin the off hours just pull up step out your Car drop it off in the slot my fellow Reader, this is free for As long as you be, come here and see The events we got poppin in summer they're often The puppet shows, and authors' public orations to thee Arts, crafts, bubbles and snacks No contest you have found the best, ooh Haven't even told you the best aspect even if you haven't The need to read there's a public restroom Ooooh time ran out to check out Before your detective could figure out who did it, ouch That stinks I guess you'll never know, oh wait, no need to get irate or pout Me thinks with a nudge and a wink I can Buy you more weeks of keeps at your house Bippity boppity boo Your book of finding clues, renewed That's how we do, takin a few Smackaroos of government pumpin it back in the mass o citizens givin a neverending plenty pile of pages over lands and ages kids and adults can have all the right in the world to choose from You gotta use the Reading ability heaven gave us, you better not say it goodbye Read until every bit of slime in your eyes dries wiseman or woman Then come in the door for more Lines of writers dead or alive What you want my friend, aisle 25

Hope rises up And down again Never to be the same Home rises up And down again Feathers built on grain And there’s so many ways You can understate What was, and feel okay about our pain And there’s so many ways I can’t paraphrase The life you never felt But somehow gave Well I guess beneath it all’s Another face Yeah, I guess beneath it all’s Another face Hope rises up And down again Clever, witty thing Home rises up And down again Caught in between And there’s so many days When I contemplate The best is yet to come So come what may And there’s so many days You might “compensate” End pretends, no longer to portray Well I guess beneath it all’s Another face Yeah, I guess beneath it all’s Another face But I thought all along I knew that face

Too many people live in LA Too many people got somethin to say Talkin over each other everywhere ya go Everywhere you drive ya drive too slow The valley and the canyon were a sight to see But buildings block your view in the city Waylon once warned me the place was uptight Didn’t quite buy it then but I know he was right I got a girl in Oregon and I miss her so Up on the mountain where the tall trees grow Oregon girl I wish I was there Runnin my fingers through your punk rock hair Darlin take me with ya to the punk rock show Then we’ll head on home to our garden grow Moss on the step, tomatoes on the vine Sativa on the stem and we’re feelin just fine Too many people live in the D.F.Dubya Too many people askin Jesus to save ya You can have a good time down in Deep Ellum Keep your hands in your pockets or somebody will sell em They love freedom or so I was told While I was scraping pennies 'neath a tower of gold What they really want is to keep you down While their oil field drills burn the earth to the ground But I got a girl in Oregon and I miss her so Down in the valley where all the hops grow Oregon girl I wish I was there Runnin my fingers through your punk rock hair Darlin take me with ya to the punk rock show Then we’ll head on home to our garden grow Moss on the step, tomatoes on the vine Sativa on the stem and we’re feelin just fine Sometimes you gotta get lost, sometimes you find your way Sometimes you gotta bathe in the wind and rain Sometimes what was for the best just made things rough And sometimes a good deal ain’t quite good enough Cause I got a girl in Oregon and I miss her so Out along the river where the salmon flow Oregon girl I wish I was there Runnin my fingers through your punk rock hair Darlin take me with ya to the punk rock show Then we’ll head on home to our garden grow Moss on the step, tomatoes on the vine Sativa on the stem and we’re feelin just fine Lyrics by Burke De Boer

about

Happy Bandcamp Friday - here’s a mixtape!

The winter storm is behind us, but the effects of the failure of Texas’ power grid continue to reverberate, with many people still displaced and surviving day-to-day. A lot of the state (and the world) came together to support one another, and now that we here at Third Eye Sockeye are a coast-to-coast operation (that’s the-Pacific-to-the-Gulf) we’d like to help a little too. Name your price and, with Bandcamp waiving fees, 100% of sales will go to local mutual aid organizations.

This compilation includes contributions from previous Sockeye collaborators, Lightspeed Scooter, Joe’s Around, and Jeff Hanes, as well as other friends of the fish Soviet Spacedog, The Grays, Rae, and Cam Frontain. It’s a funky flow of styles and we hope you dig the differences.

If you don’t like the music, please consider cutting us out of the equation and contributing directly to the organizations. You can support the efforts of DFW Mutual Aid, North Texas Rural Resilience, and Not My Son Dallas through Cashapp or Venmo at $dfwmutualaid $NTRR4yall $NotMySonDallas

If everyone does a little, we all do a lot. Solidarity, not charity.
